New Robotiq Vision System

New Robotiq Vision System

February 3rd, 2017

Robotiq is proud to launch their Wrist Camera Vision System. Their new vision-guided pick and place solution for Universal Robots shortens setup time to 5 minutes and makes vision easy to integrate.

Early users of the system say Robotiq’s Camera opens new possibilities for automation: “The Robotiq Camera breaks all the integration barriers that we are used to see with vision systems in manufacturing automation. We could think of many pick & place robot tasks that can now be programmed very fast. We will need this solution for upcoming projects with UR robots,” says Victor Canton, Manufacturing Engineer, Continental Automotive Spain SA.

“We kept seeing projects that would work much better with machine vision, but manufacturers stayed away because of the complexity and cost of existing solutions,” explains Samuel Bouchard, CEO of Robotiq. “This is why we have set out to create a camera and vision software that could be set up and used by...

Smart Servo Drive Replacement

Smart Servo Drive Replacement

June 13th, 2016

This week at Axis Systems we, the interns, integrated a solution to replace an obsolete product. We are referring to the Danaher “IDC B8961” single-axis Smart Drive. This versatile product was well received for many years because of its ease of use. From the built-in display, the user could jog the motor, send absolute or relative move commands, execute programs … etc. All of this functionality was introduced in a single product with little setup required. As a result, the news of this discontinuation prompted the engineering team to create a comparable replacement. We decided to use Kollmorgen products, which features a programmable AKD drive with an AKI display (HMI). Using the Kollmorgen Visualization Builder software, we created several screens and mapped commands using the corresponding AKD addresses. The final result can be seen in the video link below. Moving forward, Axis Systems will be offering the AKD Drive + AKI HMI + Program Template as a package. So, please contact...

Macron Releases New T-bot And H-bot Gantry Systems

Macron Releases New T-bot And H-bot Gantry Systems

January 14th, 2015

Macron Dynamics, Inc., a manufacturer of linear robotics motion systems and automation components, recently introduced two new products to their T-Bot and H-Bot gantry robot product lines, the TBG-12 and the HBG-12. The new products are smaller, lighter, and designed to complete difficult jobs both efficiently and accurately.

“There are many clear advantages of T-Bot and H-Bot gantries that appeal to our customers. We created new, lighter models that still possess impressive capabilities to complete big jobs,“ said Craig Marshall, Executive Vice President at Macron Dynamics. “The TBG-12 and HBG-12 are versatile because they are scalable to meet any application footprint.”

Macon’s T-Bot and H-Bot line consists of four pick and place linear robots that can be configured based on x-axis and y-axis travel. The products operate on a single belt with fixed pulleys that drive both axes. They have a fixed, non-moving motor mounting location, resulting in a lighter...
